The SERVPRO of Maine franchises are gearing up for our 9th Annual Appreciation Day and golf event on September 26th at the Brunswick Golf Club. Our Maine Franchises come together each year to host this fun event for our customers but also to raise money for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The money raised at the event stays here locally and helps Maine folks during their time of need. Disaster can strike at any time whether it be a house fire or a natural disaster caused by flooding. Our franchises take pride in the partnership we have established with the American Red Cross and enjoy giving back and helping out our community. Last year, we had another successful event and raised $14,000 for the Disaster Relief Fund and we hope to exceed that amount this year. Join us for the Sebago Lakes Chamber event.. The Amazing Chase!
On September 24, 2016 our office will proudly sponsor the The Amazing Chase, a Sebago Lakes Region Adventure Race. The race is being organized by the amazing folks at Sebago Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
The four person teams will set out on an adventure of team building, challenges both mental and physical while exploring the area. This is the first time this event has been held in Maine utilizing Ipads, video and photos and some teams will have Go-Pro cameras.
Our office will be sponsoring a Pitstop challenge that centers around SERVPRO and our heros. The teams that complete our Pitstop challenge will earn points for their team.
Registration Deadline is September 15, 2016.
The festivities will begin and end at the Wyndham Microtel.

Volunteering with American Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign

On July 9, 2016 our Franchise owner Jared Lamey, and employees Holly Merrill and Kelly Overlock and Kelly’s daughter Taylor volunteered their time to the American Red Cross of Maine for the Home Fire Preparedness event in Portland. They along with 30 other volunteers and the Portland Fire Department installed smoke detectors in the Riverton neighborhood in Portland. The purpose of the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign is to encourage homeowners to check or install working smoke alarms in their homes. The volunteers also helped develop an emergency escape plan for the homeowners. This five-year initiative to help reduce deaths and injuries from home fires by 25 percent. Our SERVPRO team visited several homes during the day and installed 30 smoke detectors that day.
When fire strikes, you have about two minutes to escape a burning building. Make sure your home is equipped with a working smoke detector reduces the chance of you dying in a fire by nearly half. Having a family escape plan ensures you and your family will know what to do and where to meet once outside.
